Every author has their own favorite character whom they enjoy writing about. Interestingly, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has revealed that there is a Targaryen he enjoys writing about. However, it isn't the Mother of Dragons.
Martin is currently promoting his new book Fire and Blood, which chronicles the lives of the previous Targaryen rulers. In a new video, the A Song of Ice and Fire writer was asked about his favorite Targaryen. Martin admitted that he is fond of "grey characters" and confessed that he enjoys writing about Daemon Targaryen.
"He's a notorious bad boy, a rogue in every sense of the word. He was a rival for his own niece Rhaenyra and then later he became the husband of Rhaenyra. He switches sides several times, you never know what side he's gonna come down on. He's a very colorful and unpredictable character."
Daemon certainly sounds like an interesting character and we're looking forward to reading more about him in Fire and Blood. Nevertheless, fans who are concerned that Martin doesn't favor Daenerys Targaryen can rest assured that he might still have great plans for her in Game of Thrones Season 8.
Martin has been dealing with anger from fans who are still waiting for the sixth A Song of Ice and Fire novel. Although the author has not given any updates on The Winds of Winter, there is a possibility that the book will be published sometime next year.
Fire and Blood will be available starting November 20. Daenerys Targaryen returns in Game of Thrones Season 8, which is expected to premiere on HBO in Summer 2019.
