Although it has only been three years since Gal Gadot made her debut as Wonder Woman, six decades have already passed for the character coming into Wonder Woman 1984. Of course, by now, Diana has pretty much changed over those years, even Gadot has experienced some changes as well. Diana completely understands the complexities of mankind while Gadot has realized the weight she is carrying on her shoulders in playing such a legendary role.

"I think that when I just started, I didn't understand the magnitude and how much this character means to people," Gadot told Entertainment Weekly. "I was feeling like the little girl who's supposed to climb the Kilimanjaro mountain, scratching my head and thinking, ‘How the hell am I going to do this?'"

However, Gadot says she feels like she knows where she is heading and she now knows what they're doing. " If in the first movie Diana didn't understand the complexities of mankind, now she completely understands it," the actress added. "She loves people, and I think that's the key to this character, you know?" Gadot says that while Wonder Woman has the powers of a goddess, she still has "the heart of a human."

Although she seemingly has everything figured out, producer Charles Roven says Diana's life "is quite lonely" in the film. "She's lost nearly all the people that are important to her because they're not immortal," he said. Diana is working at the Natural History Museum, quietly mourning for the ones she lost. "The only joy that she gets out of it is when she's actually doing something for people, if she can help those in need," Roven added.
