FX CEO Blames Marvel For Donald Glover’s Cancelled Deadpool TV Show

After the success of both Deadpool movies, many assumed that an R-rated animated series would also do well. Add the fact that Donald Glover was involved and it seemed like this would have been a success, or something worth talking about, at the very least. Fans are still pretty bummed about the show's cancelation and wondering why FX didn't make it happen.

Well, according to FX CEO John Landgraf, if it was up to the company they would have greenlit the series. Unfortunately, it was Marvel's decision to cancel the series because, apparently, the series wasn't something that would have meshed with the comic company's vision of the character. It's a shame really since there is so much you can get away with in animation that you can't do in live-action.

"Deadpool didn't work out because Marvel didn't want to make it. It didn't fit what they wanted to do with Deadpool and it's their brand and their decision."

Since there will be a lot of Marvel content coming to the Disney+ streaming service, it wouldn't be wrong to assume that a Deadpool animated series could be released for that platform. Sadly, that probably won't include Glover since the actor/musician probably has more projects lined up. He probably would have made time for the initial FX series but we can all assume that the cancelation has soured his Marvel experience a bit.'
