The Fall 23 season has lots of hit shows, including the continuing Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and the highly anticipated The Eminence in Shadow Season 2.

Among this season’s shows, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is easily one of the highlights. This is thanks to the series’ unique fantasy premise.

Instead of following a group of heroes as they journey to fight the Demon King, in this series, the main villain is already defeated. What happens instead is a contemplative yet heartwarming new journey.

Given this fresh spin on the fantasy genre coupled with the show’s excellent animation and lovable characters, Frieren has garnered lots of praise from fans.

In fact, Frieren is currently the highest-rated anime on MyAnimeList, beating out Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Of course, that will probably change in the future based on previous trends.

Amidst the praise, some fans still think that Frieren’s opening theme is a bit of a weird fit. After all, YOASOBI’s synth-heavy opening song might not seem like a match for a fantasy series.
