Forecasting Love And Weather Episode 1 sees Jin Ha-Kyung, her older sister, and her mother preparing for her upcoming wedding. The three women were busy choosing the right color for their dresses and double-checking the details when Ha-Kyung received an urgent call from the headquarters.
Before heading to the office, she visits her fiance, who was supposed to come with her to check their wedding outfits. She brought porridge for him as he excused himself that he was not feeling well.
As Ha-Kyung was about to ride his car, one of her colleagues called her to suggest that they should report a possible hailstorm to the director. After finding out that the probability was below 5%, Ha-Kyung ignored the report and insisted that nothing will happen that day.
However, on her way back to the headquarters, a hailstorm occurred, which caused huge damage to the metropolitan area. The people were enraged that the weather station failed to forecast the hailstorm, which left the team in a tight spot.
Ha-Kyung's superior took the blame while the other team members were tasked to do ample research on past hailstorm cases in South Korea. But as soon as they got back to work, Director Choi had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital.
With his absence, Ha-Kyung automatically takes over his position in the meantime. She had to explain to the superiors what really happened when they failed to forecast the hailstorm.
On the other hand, Lee Si-woo reports to the Metropolitan Office that it will rain in a few hours. He presents his research and evidence that there has been an abnormal cloud in the area and will affect the city so badly.
Ha-Kyung decides to take other matters seriously and suggests observing the cloud for a few hours before issuing a heavy rain advisory. However, Si-woo is certain that it will rain, so he does his best to convince his acquaintance, and it turns out that what he said is true.
Meanwhile, Ha-Kyung gets dumbfounded that the whole day is not working in her favor. She visits her fiance only to see a shocking revelation that he is cheating on her.
Two months later, Director Choi retires from his position, which automatically makes Ha-Kyung the permanent director of the team. To continue her huge role in the headquarters, Ha-Kyung has to work with her ex-fiance, who will be on the same team as her.
