The first trailer for Shane Black's The Predator has arrived and it looks pretty sweet. Unlike some teasers, this video actually has a ton of Predator in it and the alien comes to Earth in the weirdest way possible; a kid mistakes a spaceship controller for a toy and accidentally brings it here.
That's definitely unexpected.
Anyone who's seen The Nice Guys or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang won't be too surprised since Black has a great sense of humor but it's definitely an odd introduction. We also get plenty of action involving the Predator, though nothing too gory yet. This is a Predator movie though, so we can expect some nasty violence, which should be fun.
Not all of the stars get the spotlight, though we do get to see Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key (from Key and Peele fame), and Olivia Munn. Jacob Tremblay from Room is also seen in the beginning as the kid who plays with the aforementioned spaceship remote, so that's neat.
It might not be as explosive as some would want it but there is definitely potential here. Shane Black is a pretty talented director, so this should be a quality film, at the very least. Here is hoping that he pulls it off.
The Predator comes out on September 14.
