First Teaser Image Released for IT: Chapter 2

Rumor has been going around that the first trailer for IT: Chapter 2 will be released this week, and the official IT account on Twitter has released this first teaser image for the film.

It's just two red balloons, but it's already a neat tease for the return of Pennywise the Clown. It's just a simple element, but the first film managed to use the red balloons creatively that they now bring their own sense of foreboding for anyone who saw the films.

For the sequel, the story takes place 27 years after the first movie, with the grown-up Losers Club having to deal with the return of Pennywise the Clown. Admittedly this is considered the weaker part of the story, but I'm expecting director Andy Muschietti to make some more liberties to make the film more interesting. With the first movie greatly depending on the likeability of the kids, I think Muschietti has to bring a different kind of magic to make the audience root for a bunch of adults this time around.

What are the odds that they'll be adding a third chapter to this franchise that's going to be a completely original film separate from the book?

IT: Chapter 2 will star James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Jay Ryan, Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean, and James Ransone. Bill Skarsgard will be reprising the role of Pennywise, and the kids from the first film are also expected to make a small appearance in the sequel.

Catch IT: Chapter 2 when it hits theaters Sept. 6.
