First Look at Shao Khan for Mortal Kombat 11

Injustice 2 came out back in 2017, and NetherRealm Studios is now gearing up for the release of their next game, Mortal Kombat 11. The game is said to be coming out in April, and now Ed Boon is teasing a familiar face that would be available for people who pre-order the game.

Check out the ruler of the Nether Realm, Shao Khan:

While it's been obvious that Shao Khan isn't human, his design for this game is a tad unique in the sense that he has thorns sticking out of his arms. In previous games, these thorns were just part of his armor, but here they're growing out of his actual body—just like another MK character Baraka. You'll also notice his armor is more shogun-inspired compared to previous designs.

With MKX focusing on a new bunch of characters, I'm curious what's in store for MK11. The teaser had featured two familiar faces and an alternate version of Scorpion. I wonder what that has to do with the overall story moving forward.

For now, we only have a small teaser for the game, but the developers are said to be doing a major reveal come Jan. 17. Hopefully, we get some gameplay footage by then, but I'm also hoping for another long cinematic. If the MK games are known for something other than gratuitous violence—it's the amazing animations for the marketing.

Mortal Kombat 11 will be coming out April 13 and will be available for Xbox One, PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
