First Look at General Leia in Star Wars Resistance

Star Wars Rebels is over, and Disney is gearing up for the release of their new show, Star Wars Resistance this October. The series promises to have guest appearances from characters from the movies as well, and now we have our first image of an animated General Leia via Entertainment Weekly.

The original actors have been brought to the series to reprise their roles, but seeing that Carrie Fisher had passed way back in 2016, Leia in Resistance will be voiced by Rachel Butera. Interestingly enough, Butera had voiced Meryl Streep on Family Guy, and Streep herself had played a fictionalized version of Fisher in the movie Postcards from the Edge, written by Fisher herself.

Besides Leia, you have the likes of Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma returning. Like I said, the original actors have been brought back to voice their characters for the show so expect to hear from Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie. Fingers crossed the main characters get in contact with Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker.

Initial reception for the trailer has been sort of mixed, but as long as the story is fine, I'm sure Resistance will find its own audience. After all, it is mainly aimed at the kids—just like every other Star Wars material.

Star Wars Resistance premieres on Disney Channel Oct. 7.
