First Look at Animatronic Hagrid Ride from Universal Orlando

Newt Scamander may be the face of the Wizarding World franchise now, but nothing beats the OG Harry Potter. Universal Orlando is adding a whole new ride called Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and we have a look at an animatronic version of everyone's favorite half-giant.

Here's the official description:

On June 13, 2019, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure – the epic new addition to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – will soar into Universal Orlando Resort and become the most highly themed, immersive outdoor coaster experience. It will also give fans the first-ever opportunity to join Hagrid – one of the most beloved characters in the Harry Potter films – on a journey through the Forbidden Forest. Here is a first look at your Care of Magical Creatures professor inside the new experience.

While I think the animatronic has the features of Robbie Coltrane down pat, I think they really have to do something about the eyes. You can't see the whites in them, and they look black and soulless—weird for one of the warmer characters in the series.

For now, it seems that Hagrid's story is done, and the last we really know of him is that he's still the groundskeeper in Hogwarts. At least he's a character that hasn't suddenly gotten last-minute additions to his lore. I mean, I appreciate J.K. Rowling for trying to expand her universe little by little, but that doesn't always work out with the fans.

Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opens in Universal Orlando Resort on June 13.
