First Full Trailer for Taika Waititi's What We Do in the Shadows Series

Taika Waititi may be best known for his work on Thor: Ragnarok now, but before that he made this fun little mockumentary movie about vampires called What We Do in the Shadows. Now FX has decided to adapt the movie into a full series made for American audiences, and we now have a full trailer.

If you've watched the original, you'll notice that the show had decided to keep a lot of elements while adding a few things here and there. For one, there are still three main vampire roommates, but there is now a change with the fourth one added as an ‘energy vampire'. I'm guessing this is their replacement for the original movie's Peter who was the oldest vampire in the movie.

They've also mixed up the formula a bit, giving the human familiar to who I think is Viago-equivalent from the original movie. The familiar has also been given a lot more character and involvement. In the movie, she would just come and go, but was never really part of the vampires' day-to-day.

Admittedly, the movie still keeps the mockumentary aesthetic of the original film. They've even used the same music from the original trailers. While I'm sure there will be some fans who will insist the original is better, I think this version of Shadows will eventually find its audience—just like the American version of The Office.

Personally, I was kind of hoping from an appearance by the characters from the original movie, but that could be ways down the line. Fingers crossed.

What We Do in the Shadows premieres on FX March 27.
