First Captain America Film Also Hinted At Avengers 4 Title

Fans have been wondering if the Marvel Cinematic Universe films have been hinting at the Avengers 4 title. Interestingly, someone has discovered that Captain America: The First Avenger had revealed the title all along.

A Reddit post suggests that the title was hidden in an important scene in the first Captain America film. Take a look at the post below.

Avengers Annihilation?

In the scene, Dr. Abraham Erskine introduces the Super Soldier Serum with a strange line. "Ladies and gentlemen, today we take not another step towards annihilation, but the first step on the path to peace." Erskine's choice of words certainly seems curious considering he could have said "destruction" or "war" instead of "annihilation."

In addition to the seemingly random dropping of the word, the line also comes at an important time. This is when Steve Rogers transforms into the Super Soldier and eventually becomes Captain America. Since it is rumored that Chris Evans will retire from the role in Avengers 4, this could mean that "the path of peace" will be destroyed. Needless to say, it will be a "step towards annihilation."

It's an interesting theory especially since the word was also dropped right after the birth of Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Vision's death led to Thanos' victory in Infinity War, hence another possible "step towards annihilation."

So does this confirm that Avengers 4 will be titled Annihilation? It's plausible but Marvel has not yet confirmed anything about the sequel's title. It looks like we'll have to wait until the premiere of the A4 trailer to find out.

Avengers 4 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
