Final Fantasy VII Remake Has Brand-New Side Quests to Flesh Out Midgar

Final Fantasy VII Remake is only going to cover Cloud's adventures in Midgar, which is only ⅓ of the first disc in the original game. This means that Red XIII will be the final teammate we get, with Yuffie, Cait Sith, and Vincent Valentine possibly coming in the next installment. We're all curious about how Square Enix is gonna pad the game out and if they manage to make their original content engaging.

The PlayStation Blog has detailed some of the brand-new side quests that we'll be taking part in and they're giving us some mixed thoughts. One section of side quests, called Mercenary Quests, makes some sense within the game's context since AVALANCHE does what they do for the people. Unlike most terrorists, they actually mean it and we're pretty sure Cloud would go out of his way to help some people, even if those tasks involve killing x number of rats.

We will also see side quests from a boy named Chadley, who works for Professor Hojo. Chadley is researching Materia and needs Cloud to help him out, rewarding the former SOLDIER with more Materia to buy. These tasks will require Cloud to kill enemies specifically with certain Materia and conditions.

Honestly, as someone who plays a ton of RPGs, I don't mind side quests, even the ones that feel like filler. That doesn't mean all of the side quests will be good of course but we do hope they can fill out the time well. Here's hoping the combat makes these side quests worth doing.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming out on April 10.
