Fans Discover Proof That Tobey and Andrew Were Edited Out of Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer

The second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home is finally out and it gave us a glimpse of the multiversal villains that Spider-Man will face in the film. Unfortunately, it didn't confirm the speculation that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be making an appearance. While most fans see it as Marvel's way of keeping the secret as a surprise, they discovered an error in the trailer that strongly suggests that the two former Spider-Men are really in the film.

At the 0:55 mark of the Brazilian trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans noticed that the Lizard is getting punched by an invisible character. It suggests that the trailer may have digitally erased Maguire and Garfield and a lot of fans are convinced that this is the proof that they are really part of the film. The error wasn't present in the other versions of the trailer.

If you look at the Lizard's position in the Brazilian trailer footage, he wasn't jumping towards Tom Holland's Spider-Man above him. He was definitely targetting a character facing the opposite of him. It is unknown why the error was present in the Brazilian version.

This isn't the first time that Marvel has done something like this in their trailers. Most notably, during the trailer of Avengers: Infinity War, several shots that were shown didn't end up appearing in the final cut. It was confirmed later on that they were done to mislead the fans.

If Maguire and Garfield were actually erased out of the trailer, it does show that the marketing of the film intends to keep their appearances a secret until the release of the film and they want it to be a surprise for the audience. But of course, fans will continue to speculate about it. There are also rumors that a third trailer might be released sometime before the release which may address the confirmation that fans have been waiting. We shall wait and see.
