A new commemorative video was recently released by indie_anime to promote its new event in Shibuya. This video got the attention of anime fans thanks to the eclectic styles of the works compiled within it.

Anime delays are nothing new, though 2023 seems to be one of the worst years yet when it comes to delays. The year started with the Winter 23 season, which saw high-profile titles like NieR: Automata Ver1.1a get delayed.

It seemed that the industry was out of the woods in the following season, but that wasn’t the case. Spring 23 also saw several anime get delayed. Things then got worse for selected shows in Summer 2023.

The worst hit show of Summer is Zom 100, which has already suffered numerous delays. On top of these, the show’s tenth to twelfth episodes have no release dates yet.

These delays have sparked discussions about anime industry practices. After all, there are lots of horror stories about overworked and underpaid animators in the industry.

In response, some fans have begun to look at independent anime works, which hopefully don’t suffer the same problems as mainstream productions.
