Is Family Switch Dad or Alive Band Real?
In Family Switch, we see Ed Helms playing Bill Walker, the head of the family who still dreams of his yesteryears. Because of this, he is working as a high school band director.
When he is not working, he jams with his rock band, which he calls, Dad or Alive. The band gets presented an opportunity for a record deal, something that its members have long dreamed of.
But is Family Switch Dad or Alive a real band? The answer is yes and no. While the members of Dad or Alive are really in a bad, their name isn't something wacky like that.
If you've been around in the 90s, you may be familiar with the Bill's bandmates. They are actually a famous band called Weezer whose hits include Island in the Sun, Say It Ain't So, and Buddy Holly.
Weezer's Blue and Pinkteron album have been recognized as among the best albums of the 90s.

Is Weezer Still Together?
Yes, Weezer is still together and continues to do what they love most since they started over 30 years ago. While they continue to perform at music festivals and release music, they have changed some of their members over the years.
The original members of Weezer include Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp, and Jason Cropper. After going on tour for Pinkerton, Sharp left the band. The band also went on a hiatus.
When they returned in 2001, they welcomed Mikey Welsh as their new bassist and Brian Bell as their guitarist. That same year, Welsh quit the band as he battled with his mental health. The group replaced him with Scott Shriner.
In 2012, Welsh was found dead in a hotel room. He was suspected of dying from a heroin overdose.
The group continues to perform today.
