There have been conflicting rumors surrounding Ezra Miller's future in the rebooted DC Universe. While James Gunn and Peter Safran have expressed their openness with regard to the idea of Miller reprising his role as The Flash in the new DCU, a recent rumor circulated all over the internet claiming that the controversial star will be getting replaced by ArrowVerse actor Grant Gustin.

Gustin, who has been playing the Scarlet Speedster on television since 2014 has gained a good reputation amongst fans and when Miller's controversies began piling up almost uncontrollably, they started a campaign demanding Warner Bros. to switch things up and have Grant replace Ezra for good.

World of Reel reports that WB Discovery boss David Zaslav and DC Studios' top executives plan to keep Ezra on board and it's most likely due to The Flash's positive reception so far. In case you haven't heard yet, the film is getting a ton of praise from its most recent test screenings, with a number of insiders saying it's on par with Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.

Even Gunn has been very vocal about how thrilled he is with the film, calling it one of the best comic book movies in existence.

Ezra is currently undergoing rehab for his mental health and according to DC Studios, the actor has been very committed to finishing his treatment. It remains unclear whether or not the actor will be part of The Flash's press tour in the coming months but I think we can all agree that it will be a tricky scenario.

The Flash is hitting cinemas on June 16. Meanwhile, the ninth and final season of the ArrowVerse's The Flash is now streaming on The CW app.
