Ewan McGregor on What Kind of Villain Black Mask Will Be in Birds of Prey

Ewan McGregor is a pretty big name for the geek community right now and it's not just because he's going to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was recently confirmed that McGregor would play the dreaded Black Mask for DC's upcoming film Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) but without an actual black mask. As we wait for more details, McGregor has decided to give us some instead.

Speaking with Men's Journal, McGregor feels that the character he's portraying is perfect for the "time of Trump." Further adding to that point, McGregor also revealed some interesting tidbits of his character, giving us obvious and not-so obvious clues about how Roman Sionis will be like in this version. It's a bit of a far cry from the comic books but what superhero film isn't?

"[He is] an absolute narcissist. spoiled in his upbringing to the point of having no contact with what life or people are about, who has a skin this thin and wants nothing more than to be the center of attention."

That thin skin is going to end up being his worst enemy once Harley Quinn enters the fray, who will likely make fun of his status while beating him up at the same time. We aren't sure why a character like Batman hasn't taken him down yet but when you consider how many times he has been set free in the comics, that won't be much of a plothole.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) comes out on February 7, 2020.
