Evil Dead Rise Star Still Shocked By Global Box Office Success

There is little doubt that Evil Dead Rise took the world by storm and brought Deadites back into fashion. However, Alyssa Sutherland still can't believe that the film is such a huge box office success considering it wasn't supposed to get a theatrical release in the first place.

Evil Dead Rise is the fifth installment in Sam Raimi's horror film series and it is turning into the franchise's most successful project so far. Still, the box office success is astounding for Alyssa Sutherland, who plays Ellie in the movie.

"It's so wild. To think that we were gonna go to HBO Max and, instead, this has been the path that it's taken... like, wait, what?" Sutherland told Insider.

"I feel like a lot of people are going to the cinema more than once for it. It's so cool."

Sutherland has already proved that she's excellent as a Deadite but does this mean she will work on more horror films? The Vikings star says that would depend on the role.

"I think my gut will know when I see the right thing. I really love drama," Sutherland said. "I think I'm actually a really good dramatic actress and would love to sink my teeth into something really meaty and dark."

She added, "It's almost like I already feel this pressure because people have been so lovely. The reviews have been so incredible that I'm like, how do you follow this up? What do you follow this up with?"

"And, like, what if I am not as good? What if people don't like me in the next thing I do? It's too easy to listen to voices like that. I've gotta get rid of that voice," Sutherland concluded.

Evil Dead Rise has reportedly grossed over $131 million worldwide. It is currently the highest-grossing film in the horror series.
