Seven Seas Entertainment announced that it will release an audiobook version of the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA light novel series, and it will be narrated by Asuka VA Tiffany Grant.
The Rebuild of Evangelion film series may be over, but fans who still want their Eva fix are in for a treat as this light novel series features an entirely new story that shows a unique twist to the series’ events.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA Is a Light Novel Series With an Alternate Ending
Evangelion: ANIMA is a light novel series that was serialized in Dengeki Hobby Magazine from 2008 to 2013 in Japan.
It was written by Ikuto Yamashita, a mechanical designer for the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime projects.
ANIMA was then picked up by Seven Seas Entertainment. The English versions of the light novels were released from 2019 to 2021.
What makes this novel series interesting is that it’s set after the events of the original anime, though it is set in an alternative future. In ANIMA, Shinji was able to avert the efforts of Seele to enact the Human Instrumentality Project.
The series follows Shinji Ikari who is now the leader of the EVA team at NERV. With Gendo Ikari out of the picture, Misato Katsuragi is now the Acting Commander of NERV.
Other characters also return such as Asuka Langley Soryu who has mellowed down and is much closer to Shinji. Rei Ayanami is also here, but there are four Rei clones in this series.
ANIMA sees NERV as it continues its conflict with Seele, which is now a rogue organization that still wants to push its initial goal.

Evangelion: ANIMA Is Getting an Audiobook With Narration by Asuka’s English Dub VA
The ANIMA light novel series consists of five volumes. For those who haven’t read it yet, Seven Seas Entertainment’s upcoming audiobook release should be worth checking out.
What makes it even better is that Tiffany Grant is narrating the audiobook version. Grant is the voice actress of Asuka in both the original Evangelion anime series and the Rebuild movies.
With Grant narrating the audiobook, it will be interesting to hear if she will narrate it as Asuka or if she will go with her natural speaking voice.
It won’t be long until we find out as the first volume of the ANIMA audiobook will be released on December 14, 2023.
For now, there’s no word yet on a release date for the other audiobook volumes.
