Following the film’s initial Japanese cinema release back in March 2021, it was announced that Evangelion: 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon a Time will get a Blu-ray and DVD release in early 2023.
The announcement of the film’s home video release was made via the movie’s official website.
Its March release date reveal was accompanied by details about the new version of the movie, as well as a new trailer.
If you’re a big Evangelion fan, you might have noticed that this Blu-ray and DVD release is entitled 3.0+1.11. This is because the upcoming home video release is the third version of the Rebuild series.
The Rebuild of Evangelion series is a retelling of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion TV anime.
While it begins as a straight remake, its story deviates from the later entries.
The series began with the release of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone back in 2009. It was followed by Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo which were released in 2011 and 2016, respectively.
The first version is Evangelion 3.0+1.0, an anime film that serves as the conclusion to Hideaki Anno’s Rebuild of Evangelion movie series.
This version of the movie was the one that was released in Japanese cinemas in early 2021.
After its initial release, the film was re-released in Japanese cinemas with the title Evangelion 3.0+1.01.
This version of the movie was released in June 2021 and featured minor animation revisions, though there are no story changes.
The 1.01 version of the movie will be released in US cinemas this December.

So, what about the 3.0+1.11 version? This latest edition of the movie comes with another set of animation adjustments.
While no specific details were mentioned, it’s likely that the film’s story will be unaffected by the changes.
Aside from enhancements, the upcoming home video release will also come with bonus footage entitled EVANGELION:3.0 (46h).
The Evangelion: 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon a Time Blu-ray and DVD releases will be available on March 8, 2023.
This release comes in two versions: a three-disc limited edition Blu-ray that is priced at JPY 10,780 (around USD 74.5) and a two-disc regular DVD/Blu-ray with a price tag of JPY 8,580 (around USD 59.3).
