Evangeline Lilly Now Open to Wasp Solo Movie After Captain Marvel Hype

When she was asked about a solo Wasp movie, Ant-Man and The Wasp star Evangeline Lilly felt that it wouldn't work since the two characters have a close connection and have their best adventures together. However, it looks like Lilly is humming to a different beat now that Captain Marvel has been making her mark to the mainstream.

During the FanX Convention (via ComicBook.com), Lilly said that the posters for Brie Larson's Captain Marvel look "fun" and has seemingly changed her mind about not wanting a solo Wasp movie. She does bring up her initial hesitation and how Wasp just works better with Ant-Man but we've obviously seen her tone change.

"And I've been asked, ‘Would you like to do a standalone Wasp film?' And I keep saying, ‘Well, I don't think so, because they're partners, and they were always partners, and they're original founding members of the Avengers and they belong side by side.' And now I've been seeing posters coming out for Captain Marvel, and I'm like, ‘Ohh, hang on a minute! That looks really fun!'"

Though Lilly's only familiar with Wasp's Ant-Man team-ups, the character has had some success independent of her man. Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp, has led The Avengers before. The new Wasp, Nadia Pym, is getting a second solo series soon and has only teamed up with Ant-Man once via a mini-series. She's also helped The Avengers and Champions.

Right now, it's too early to assume that we'll be getting a Wasp solo movie sometime after Avengers 4. With Marvel recently getting the X-Men and Fantastic Four licenses from Fox, we can assume that they will get priority over a Wasp solo film.

Ant-Man and The Wasp will be coming to Blu-Ray and digital stores this October.
