Europe To Get Early War of the Spark Prerelease & Release Following Grand Prix Clash

Following the schedule clash of MagicFest London and the War of the Spark pre-release, Wizards of the Coast have announced that all War of the Spark products will be available in Europe on prerelease (April 27, 2019). Wizards Play Network stores in the UK and Ireland will also be able to schedule and run War of the Spark prerelease events on April 26.

This looks like a step in the right direction but it still clashes with the first two flights of the Grand Prix. The news comes after some gaming stores in Southeast England shared an open letter to Wizards asking the Magic: The Gathering publisher to give them an early War of the Spark prerelease. For some stores, the change will probably add a few players but it does seem like the prerelease attendance will still be affected negatively.

War of the Spark will be released in April 2019. It's the third of a series of consecutive sets set in Ravnica and is said to focus on the epic war between Nicol Bolas and the Gatewatch.
