Eternals: Kevin Feige Teases a Big, Expensive Movie

With Disney+ now existing, Marvel Studios can make series based on obscure heroes with the risk reduced. The studio is taking quite a risk with the upcoming Eternals movie though. While it may be a while before we get our first look, Kevin Feige has come up to talk about the show and the cards that Marvel is trying to play with.

Talking to the Hollywood Reporter, Feige confirms, "[Eternals] is a very big movie. It is a very expensive movie. And we are making it because we believe in [director Chloe Zhao's] vision and we believe in what those characters can do and we believe we need to continue to grow and evolve and change and push our genre forward… That's a risk if I've ever heard one."

Of course, doing risky things has worked with Marvel before. Nobody had heard of Guardians of the Galaxy before the 2014 film came out, and now almost everyone is aware of Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Even Ant-Man, one of the more obscure heroes with the silliest powers, has his own film and franchise.

If anything, Eternals has a lot of good things going for it. The movie is star-studded with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Kumail Nanjiani, and Kit Harington. No doubt the stars will be a huge enough draw, but hopefully Marvel Studios has come up with a story that will please everyone.

Catch Eternals when it hits theaters Nov. 6, 2020.
