Millie Bobby Brown who plays the titular character, Enola Holmes, also shared her positive response to the idea, "When Harry pitched me the idea, I thought, “Oh my gosh, I’m going to be working with more women–that’s perfect.” This is exactly what I wanted the film to be about. I don’t mind not being the only one."

Millie added her excitement on having more women in the film, "I really want others to be a part of the film. And I think for me to be able to have Sharon, Serrana, and Susie and Helena back, I was sold the first second he told me. I was very excited."

A new adventure awaits Enola as she stumbles upon a case of a missing girl who works at a matchstick factory, thus, connecting the narrative to the events of the Matchgirls' Strike of 1888.

The Matchgirls' Strike of 1888 was an industrial action which is anchored on the introduction of tax on matches and the matchmakers opposed to it. Led by Sarah Chapman, 10,000 matchmakers came marching to the Houses of the Parliament to petition, most of them are women aged twenty to thirty.
