E3: Classic Villains Get New Looks in New Spider-Man PS4 Trailer

One complaint fans have had about Insomniac's Spider-Man PS4 game is the lack of any major villains. We saw some of Spidey's street-level baddies like Shocker, Mister Negative, and Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin but none of his major villains. That all changed in Sony's E3 2018 press conference, which revealed four classic villains; Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, and Vulture.

It starts off great with Electro breaking villains out of The Raft, a special prison where some of the world's most powerful villains stay. As we see Spidey take out prisoners with fast-paced combat, Rhino soon pops up and escapes with Electro. Scorpion is quickly seen and then we get Vulture by the end. Unsurprisingly, Mister Negative makes an appearance and is revealed to be the mastermind.

Seeing these classic villains get upgraded looks is a treat and it could be the main conflict of the game. Spider-Man stories are at their best when they mix street-level crime with super-powered mayhem, so having Peter Parker's alter-ego take on stronger versions of his classic villains is a perfect fit for the game.

Honestly, it's hard to believe that this game is coming out in September but it is. The title looks beautiful and super fun to play. Add the unlockable costumes and we could have a perfect superhero game.

Spider-Man PS4 comes out on September 7.
