Dune Releases First Image of Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides

After Arrival and Blade Runner 2049, Denis Villeneuve is set to wow sci-fi fans with his take on the classic novel Dune. The movie boasts a star-studded cast, and we have our first look at Timothee Chalamet's Paul Atreides.

In the original novel, Atreides is a young royal who is set to travel to the planet of Arrakis; his family is set to oversee the extraction of a spice ‘vital to the galaxy' and it's Atreides' turn to play his part.

Talking to Vanity Fair, Chalamet describes his role:

"The immediately appealing thing about Paul was the fact that in a story of such detail and scale and world-building, the protagonist is on an anti-hero's-journey of sorts… He thinks he's going to be sort of a young general studying his father and his leadership of a fighting force before he comes of age, hopefully, a decade later, or something like that."

In the film, Atreides family members are played by Oscar Isaac (Duke Leto) and Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica Atreides). Atreides' mentor Gurney Halleck is also being played by none other than the Mad Titan himself Josh Brolin.

Besides them, the cast list also includes the likes of Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard, and Jason Momoa.

Though a lot of films have been delayed this year because of the outbreak, Dune is still keeping to its December release date. Hopefully, theaters could re-open by June, but that's putting things optimistically. Here's to hoping we'll start getting news of things blowing over sometime in May.

Dune is set to release on Dec. 18.
