There has been a lot of anticipation for Dune: Part Two following the success of the first film back in 2021. The sequel is expected to cover the second half of the novel and introduce more characters that were not featured in the first film such as Feyd-Rautha and Princess Iman, who will have prominent roles.
As reported by Deadline, in a recent masterclass appearance at the Doha Film Institute, costume designer Jacqueline West teased some details about the sequel where she revealed that the film will explore more worlds and promised that the craftsmanship will be as stunning as the first. She also gave a shoutout to Butler, who plays Feyd-Rautha.
"In Part Two, you really dive into the different worlds of Dune. We see what the emperor’s world looks like. We go to his planet. We spend a lot of time on Giedi Prime, the Harkonnen planet," she said.
"We spend a lot of time in Stellan Skarsgård’s [Vladimir Harkonnen] world. Feyd-Rautha [Harkonnen] also comes into this one, brilliantly played by Austin Butler, Elvis. He is pretty fabulous in it."
She continued, "All the worlds get expanded. It was about creating three separate, different-looking worlds and also revisiting the Bene Gesserits, the age-old ones with these costumes that almost look like Egyptian mummies. I think it’s visually stunning, the sets, the cinematography, and the concepts."
West certainly made a lot of great promises about the upcoming sequel which should excite the fans even further as we're anticipating its release later this year. There is no doubt that director Denis Villeneuve spared no expense in terms of bringing the novel to life and it's exciting to see what it all looks like.
