Dragon Ball fans were treated to lots of new info and clips on the upcoming Budokai Tenkaichi game. Recently, Bandai Namco shared a new Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero trailer that showed off 11 new characters.
Along with the trailer, a Sparking Zero gameplay showcase was also shared, which gives fans their best look yet at this highly anticipated fighting game.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero – The Long-Awaited New Budokai Tenkaichi Game
The Dragon Ball series has gotten lots of video game adaptations over the decades. If you ask fans which is their favorite though, chances are that many will say one of the Budokai Tenkaichi fighting games.
It has been a long time since the last game in this sub-series, but finally, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero was announced, which revives Budokai Tenkaichi with lots of new characters and dynamic 3D action.
This game was initially revealed back in March 2023, and it has since gotten some reveals and trailers.
What’s exciting about the game is that it will feature 164 characters, meaning it surpasses even Budokai Tenkaichi 3’s massive roster.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Trailer Shows off 11 New Characters
The entire roster hasn’t been revealed yet, but the new trailer finally showed off 11 new characters in action. These include fan favorites like Master Roshi, along with characters from the Super series.
Here is a list of all 11 new characters in the trailer:
- Super Trunks
- Dyspo
- Kakunsa
- Master Roshi (Full Power)
- Nappa
- Burter
- Toppo
- Jeice
- Super Saiyan Kale (Berserk)
- Super Saiyan Broly (Full Power)
- Hit
If the trailer wasn’t enough to excite fans, there’s also a 12-minute gameplay showcase that delves deeper into the mechanics of the game.
Some specific details revealed include the Dragon Dash, the counter system from the previous games, and Impact Action, which allows an intense exchange of energy blasts.

When Will Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Launch? Release Date Predictions
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For now, there’s no word yet on a release date.
Given that the game is still in development, Sparking Zero will likely be released in 2025, or late 2024 at the earliest.
Whenever its release date is, the game will likely get more gameplay and character showcases coming soon.
