Dr. Mario is Coming to Smartphones This Year

It's-a-him, Dr. Mario! Aside from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we haven't seen this version of the popular Nintendo mascot for a long time now. The character is mostly known for puzzle games where players have to match the colors of pills so that tiles can be erased, which makes for an addicting experience at times.

Seems like Nintendo is aware of how fun the games can be as the company has announced Dr. Mario World for smartphones, which is slated for a 2019 release. Not much information has been given but we do know that it will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases, though we are all wondering what those in-app purchases could possibly be.

Dr. Mario has been around since the Game Boy days, entertaining fans with its fun puzzle mechanics. The last proper Dr. Mario game that was released might have been the Wii title, which was a downloadable title that could be downloaded from the store. Now that the service is down, fans at least have this game to look forward to since it comes out later this year.

Dr. Mario World is being co-developed by LINE, a Japanese company known for a variety of things, including the development of games that have proven successful in Asian markets. Those include Disney Tsum Tsum and Cookie Run.
