What Happened to Kai in Halo Season 2?
Halo season 2 episode 4 titled Reach spotlights the long-awaited Fall of Reach storyline from the series. Take it like Game of Thrones' The Red Wedding episode — several major characters are expected to die.
That being said, is Kai-125 (played by Kate Kennedy) one of them?
Before the fourth episode, Kai is seen helping her fellow Spartans to the Visegrad comms to find out what happened to the Cobalt team.
In episode 3, however, Kai begins to doubt John's abilities to lead the team, which didn't end on good terms.
Instead of following his orders, Kai decides to walk out on her own team to prove her point on how she lost her trust in John's leadership, given that Master Chief misled the team.
Considering that John-117, Riz-028, and Vannak-134 have always had each other's backs, this season 2 seems to be exploring a different path for Kai from the group.
Once episodes 4 and 5 were released, Kai was nowhere to be seen, leading fans to believe she may have died.

Does Kai Die During Fall of Reach? Mysterious Disappearance Explored
So, what really happened to Kai? Did she die? Well, the character's fate still remains uncertain, especially since there are still three episodes left in Halo season 2.
Plus, there's the fact that we haven't seen her death on-screen yet, which could indicate there is hope she'll return in the upcoming episodes.
However, it is worth mentioning that the Kai actress, Kate Kennedy, left a vague clue that fans could take away.
As Kennedy explained on Collider, since Halo season 1 focused more on Kai "being emotional for the first time", season 2 is Kai discovering "what lies beneath those emotions."
"She's trying to figure out what is right and who is right and who to trust, I think, in this series," Kennedy added.
In this case, there's a chance that Ackerson, one of Kai's closest companions on the show, may have manipulated Kai's trust in John as a part of his plan to turn her against the Spartans. For now, stay tuned for more updates on this story.
