Doctor Who Series 11 Episode Had A Sly Reference At David Tennant's Time Lord

It looks like Jodie Whittaker's Time Lord just couldn't stop from revisiting her former incarnations. The latest episode of Doctor Who Series 11 finds the Thirteenth Doctor somehow trying to go back to the time when she was played by David Tennant.

In The Witchfinders, the Doctor is surprised that the TARDIS brought her and her companions to 17th Century Lancashire. After all, she was actually hoping they would be able to attend the coronation of Elizabeth I (via We Got This Covered).

Now here's a character that has shown up several times in the BBC series. However, Elizabeth is almost exclusively connected to Tennant's Doctor, who had a rather complicated relationship with the monarch. After all, Ten had an affair with Elizabeth when he thought she was a Zygon. Unfortunately, he also left her soon after they had a secret wedding ceremony so technically, the Time Lord was married to the Virgin Queen (a moniker he claimed isn't entirely true).

We're not sure why the Doctor even had plans to visit her estranged wife in The Witchfinders. Nevertheless, it would have been an interesting episode if they did end up attending Elizabeth's coronation. Was the Time Lord trying to reconnect with the young queen? Perhaps we'll find out in the future.

This isn't the first time that Doctor Who Series 11 made a reference to the Time Lord's previous regeneration. In Kerblam!, Jodie Whittaker's character actually received an obviously delayed package containing a bright red fez, a hat that is associated with Matt Smith's Doctor.

Doctor Who Series 11 airs on BBC every Sunday nights.
