The Marvel Cinematic Universe's fourth phase has produced some of the most divisive projects in recent memory — from Eternals to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law but despite that, the franchise has maintained its sheer dominance in the world of entertainment. Now, another polarizing MCU film has been hailed as Movie of the Year at the 48th People's Choice Awards.

It was a tough battle for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but the Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen team-up film managed to beat other nominees such as Bullet Train, Elvis, Jurassic World Dominion, Nope, Thor: Love and Thunder, and this year's current highest-grossing film Top Gun: Maverick.

On top of that, Elizabeth also bagged two awards — Female Movie Star and Action Movie Star for her gripping performance as Wanda Maximoff and Scarlet Witch.

Multiverse of Madness was one of the most anticipated films for Phase 4 but shockingly enough, fans are divided on the subject of whether or not it was actually a good flick. While some fans genuinely enjoyed all the multiversal shenanigans that came with it, others think the film was poorly written and felt rushed. A lot of fans also took major issue with how Wanda was handled in the film, especially after WandaVision saw her come to terms with her true reality.

In other news, several insiders are reporting that Olsen's MCU journey isn't over just yet. In fact, the 33-year-old actress is still expected to play a significant role in the franchise despite Maximoff's "death" in the closing moments of Doctor Strange 2.

Doctor Stange in the Multiverse of Madness is available to stream on Disney+.
