Original Doctor Strange Director Wants to Return for Third Film

There was a time when Scott Derrickson was supposed to work on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, the director of the first Doctor Strange film had left the project citing creative differences, leading to Sam Raimi to take over the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. Despite all that, it looks like Derrickson is eager to return to the MCU. The Sinister director has just admitted he wants to helm the third Doctor Strange movie!

It's no secret that Scott Derrickson could have made Doctor Strange 2 but the filmmaker decided to step away from the sequel because he disagreed with Marvel Studios on how the movie should move forward. For most, this could be reason enough to avoid the MCU in the future. However, Derrickson has just admitted that he is hoping to direct Doctor Strange 3.

A fan recently reached out to Derrickson on Twitter asking if there is any chance he would return to the MCU. The Hellraiser: Inferno director replied that he wouldn't turn down the opportunity.

"I loved working with Marvel and would absolutely do it again," Derrickson wrote.

It's great to know that Derrickson would consider coming back for a third Doctor Strange movie. After all, this would mean that the "creative differences" he previously encountered with the second film might not be as bad as we initially thought. With that in mind, we're looking forward to Marvel bringing Derrickson back to work on a new project soon.

Although we're loving the idea of Derrickson returning for Doctor Strange 3, it is important to point out that Marvel Studios has not yet made an announcement about the third film. However, we could get an update before the end of the year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled for release on May 6, 2022.
