Doctor Strange 2: Wasp Was Originally Going to Be Part of Illuminati

One of the highlights of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the appearance of Earth-838's Illuminati which includes beloved Marvel characters such as Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Reed Richards (John Krasinski), who are making their official MCU debut, as well as familiar characters such as Captain Carter and the Maria Rambeau variant of Captain Marvel. However, as it turns out, another familiar MCU character was also supposed to be part of the team.

As reported by The Direct, during the audio commentary of the film, writer Michael Waldron discussed how Aliens inspired Wanda's massacre of the Illuminati. Then, he revealed that the Wasp was originally going to be part of the team and even wrote a brutal death for the character.

"Yeah, I think I watched Aliens and was just thinking about the way those Marines get massacred, and, yeah, I was glad it worked," he said. "I think originally, the Wasp was in a version of the Illuminati, and the Wasp shrunk down and flew at Wanda, and [Wanda] just clapped her hands and just smushed the Wasp in the first draft."

Waldron's planned death for the Wasp is definitely in alignment with the deaths that we saw on the Illuminati in the final version of the film. It would have been awesome to see Wasp as part of the team and see her brutal death on the screen. It also poses a question if they would have cast either Evangeline Lilly or Michelle Pfeiffer to play the role in the film or cast a different actress instead.

However, even without her presence, the members that the Illuminati ended up having in the film were still great and they all still have memorable death scenes that fans still talk about up to this day.
