When fans think of Wanda Maximoff, the famed Marvel Comics storyline House of M immediately comes to mind and now that Maximoff has fully embraced her destiny as the Scarlet Witch, a lot of people are under the impression that Marvel Studios is finally set to do an adaptation of the beloved arc.

Now, with all the craziness and chaos that is about to ensue in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, it looks like the studio is finally planting the seeds for Wanda to utter her iconic line "no more mutants".

Marvel recently dropped a new poster for the Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen film, hyping up its IMAX release in cinemas. If you'll pay close attention to the graphic, you'll notice that the letter X is given a treatment similar to the trippy House of M variant cover from 2005, created by Joe Quesada.

It's definitely intriguing but the real question is, how will it be possible for the MCU to do a House of M adaptation without the presence of the mutants? There's an ongoing theory that Marvel is planning to do a "reverse" version of the storyline and instead of the original narrative of Wanda stripping the mutants of their abilities, she'll be the one responsible for bringing them to Earth-616. Perhaps that's the case?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit cinemas on May 6, 2022.
