Fans have been looking forward to seeing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as it is expected to venture into the multiverse (as said in the title) and it will be the Sorcerer Supreme's second solo outing in the MCU. Last week, it was announced that all MCU films in 2022 will be moving their release date forward due to production issues. Now, we may have an idea why.

Per the Twitter page @DrStrangeUpdate, during a recent interview in The Today Show, Benedict Cumberbatch was asked to tease about the upcoming sequel in which he revealed that they are going to do reshoots very soon. He said, "Very excited. Sam Raimi’s at the helm, so expect extraordinary things, and yeah, we’re in the middle of making it even better. We’ve got some reshoots coming up in November and December, and then it comes out in May, and I guess you’ll have to wait until then."

It sounds concerning sometimes whenever you hear about a film undergoing reshoots. But it has been a norm for MCU films to have reshoots as part of their production schedule. It's not really concerning since the purpose of doing reshoots is to do additional scenes, redo sequences that need to be improved, fix the continuity or logic issues that they discovered during editing, and many more. It could also be the case where the filmmaker thought of a better idea during editing so they will undergo reshoots to address it.

If you look at the production history of the past MCU films, some of the memorable moments were done during reshoots. A great example is Tony Stark's death scene in Avengers: Endgame where he said "I am Iron Man" before snapping his fingers. It was filmed during the film's final round of reshoots and now it has become one of the key moments in the MCU.

In the end, there's really nothing to worry about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness undergoing reshoots soon. Perhaps they just need to improve or add certain scenes that they think will make the film better. This might also be the reason why the MCU films in 2022 have moved their release dates forward in order to give themselves time for reshoots and finish post-production ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, it would mean our wait for the film will be longer, but it will definitely be worth it.
