Rachel and Gar met in Scooters Roller Skating Rink while Rachel was playing on a pinball machine. Gar befriends her and compliments her hair. They part ways, but end up meeting each other again after Rachel blows up a convent.

Gar introduces Rachel to the Doom Patrol but later on Dr. Caulder takes an interest in her. Dick and Kory come and save Rachel, and Gar decides to leave his friends and join the Titans.

In Season 1 Episode 8, Gar opens up to Kory/Starfire about his concerns as to whether Rachel’s mad at him. Gar talks about attacking a scientist, which could have freaked Rachel out.

Kory says that maybe it freaked him out and that he shouldn’t be ashamed of defending himself. Later on, Kory says that he and Rachel have something in common because they’re both learning how to control their powers.

Kory adds that such creates a connection between Gar and Rachel. She then asks Gar, “You wanna make out with her, don’t you?”

Gar responds that he doesn’t, but Kory explains that kissing is perfectly natural. Gar then says that he’s not comfortable talking about it and asks for a shot of alcohol.

This is the only instance where there’s an implication that Gar has a crush on Rachel. All throughout the series, the two become closer, but it seems that what they have is a platonic friendship, nothing more.

Additionally, in an alternate reality in Season 1, Raven and Beast Boy are together, but only as friends, as it appears. In the Season 1 finale, Dick and Dawn are married in a fantasy world and they video call with Rachel and Gar who are both enrolled in college.

Gar shares that they’re both four weeks in and that Rachel hasn’t been expelled yet, and Rachel adds that Gar hasn’t even attended class. Thus, even in an alternate reality, the two appear to be just friends.

No, Raven and Beast Boy don’t end up together in DC’s Titans. After defeating Brother Blood, the Titans decide to go their separate ways.

Gar opens up to the Titans about leaving and going back to The Red. He says that he’s needed there and that he has no idea how long he’ll be gone. He adds that he won’t be too far and that if the Titans need him, he’ll be there in a snap.

Rachel, on the other hand, decides to go to college. She says that she’s been thinking about the future and that she’s done something she never thought she’d do. She then opens up that she enrolled in Bludhaven University, a little community college just outside of Gotham.

Rachel shares that it was time for her to be around normal kids. However, she assures the Titans that they can always come to visit her.

Raven and Beast Boy’s decisions may have been hinted at before the series finale. In Episode 11, the two of them talk alone and Rachel says that it’s been a trend for people to disappear without telling her.

Gar apologizes for being “kind of scarce” lately, and Rachel asks if he’s been spending time in The Red. Gar opens up that the more he spends time in The Red, the less he’s sure where he’s supposed to be.

Rachel says that she thinks Gar should be in The Red. She then opens up about feeling a similar way and that she wants a change and something different.

Gar asks what changes she wants, and Rachel responds that she’s not sure but she feels like she’s standing on the edge of a cliff and she wants to jump and see. She suggests Gar does the same.

But Gar responds that maybe he wants to know what’s at the bottom of the cliff first. Rachel, however, tells Gar that it doesn’t work like that and they just got to do it.

So, both Rachel and Gar end up going their separate ways after defeating Brother Blood and saving the world. Raven and Beast Boy don’t end up together in DC’s Titans, as opposed to the DC Comics.

This doesn’t seem much of a surprise though, as the series doesn’t give hints that they would become a couple, and Teagan Croft, the Raven actress herself confirmed on Twitter that the Beast Boy and Raven romance theories are “false.”

So, while this may break the hearts of those shipping for Gar and Rachel, at least we know that in the DC Comics, Raven and Beast Boy are actually a couple. Raven and Beast Boy just don’t end up together in DC’s Titans.
