Shadow and Bone Season 2 delves into the backstories of fan-favorite characters and their present relationships. The ending of Season 2 might have left fans wondering if Kaz and Inej end up together in Shadow and Bone. Is there hope for them?

Does Kaz Love Inej?
Kaz has romantic feelings for Inej but he tries to suppress them for much of Shadow and Bone.
Since childhood, Kaz has only been able to survive because he has built a legend around himself which he's only able to sustain by persuading his enemies that he's invulnerable.
This involves appearing crueller than he actually is and keeping even his closest friends at arm's length.
Kaz's past trauma also makes it hard for him to be close to others. As a child, he and his brother contracted a serious disease.
Kaz survived but was mistaken for dead due to how feverish he was, and he spent days among decomposing bodies, which explains his present aversion to touch.
Understandably, this makes it hard for him to be vulnerable. While his respect and trust for Inej turns into romantic love Kaz barely knows how to approach her.
Inej shares his feelings but she also has dreams of her own and Kaz's insistence on shutting her off doesn't help.
Do Kaz and Inej End Up Together?
In the Shadow and Bone tv series, Kaz and Inej aren't officially together yet, but mutual feelings are definitely there and their relationship is left open-ended.
In Leigh Bardugo's books on which Shadow and Bone is based on, Kaz and Inej's relationship is also left ambiguous. It's very clear that they love each other and will hopefully pursue a relationship in the future but, for the moment, they went their separate ways.
Towards the end of the Six Crows duology Kaz has come a long way as he's able to hold hands with Inej.
Although he wants her to stay in Ketterdam with him, he puts her own dreams first, helping her find her lost parents and letting her go pursue her goal of hunting slaver ships.
Both Kaj and Inej show up in The Rule of Wolves, the final installment of the sequel duology about King Nikolai, though, unfortunately, not in the same scene.
Kaz is still back in Ketterdam. Adorably, he pretends not to know Inej in order to protect her whereabouts.
For her part, Inej is a captain who pursues slave ships and frees slaves, following her true purpose after all the struggles she went through.
Kaz and Inej's relationship might be ambiguous right now, but it remains one of the most beloved ones in Shadow and Bone and we hope to see more of them in Shadow and Bone Season 3 or another spin-off book.
