While a second season for the anime has yet to be announced, fans can look forward to a Do It Yourself!! live-action TV drama that will premiere this July.
Ahead of the show’s release, the drama got a new trailer that showed off the live-action actresses for Serufu, Purin, and the rest of the cast. It also reveals the show’s opening theme.
While Serufu might look quite different in this TV drama, it’s still shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of the anime -- at least for those who will be able to watch it, as only a Japanese broadcast is confirmed.
Do It Yourself!!: An Underrated Fall 2022 Slice-of-Life Anime
The Fall 2022 season was one of the biggest in recent history thanks to several big shows, including Chainsaw Man, Bocchi the Rock!, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Mob Psycho 100 III, and many others.
While these shows dominated the streaming charts and the discussions online, some underrated shows also gained a dedicated following.
One of these is Do It Yourself!!, an original anime by studio Pine Jam that features cute girls doing cute things, a popular genre with shows like Laid-Back Camp.
Specifically, the girls in this anime are involved in a DIY club where they make various handicrafts.
The show follows Serufu Yua, a high school girl who joins her school’s Do-It-Yourself club, which is in danger of closing due to a lack of members.
Aside from helping out the club by joining, Serufu also joins as she hopes this experience will help her be close once again with her childhood friend, the tech-savvy Miku “Purin” Suride, who entered a different school.

Do It Yourself!! Live-Action Drama Gets New Trailer
Following the end of the anime's first season, a live-action adaptation was announced, and it will be broadcast on the Japanese channel MBS.
The show is directed by Mamoru Yoshino, with Masatoshi Nakamura handling writing duties.
Ahead of the show’s premiere, a new trailer was released. And while it’s only 30 seconds long, it features new footage of the show’s cast, as well as the opening song Kanazuchi by the rock band, hock rock b.

Playing Serufu is Hinano Kamimura, an idol who is currently a member of the idol group Hinatazaka46.
The Do It Yourself!! live-action TV drama will premiere on July 4, 2023, on MBS.
For now, there’s no word on whether the series will be streamed outside Japan.
