Disney's Lilo and Stitch Live-Action Remake Casts Aladdin Actor Billy Magnussen

One of the Disney animated films that are getting the live-action remake treatment soon is Lilo and Stitch. For the past couple of months, we've been hearing some updates about the project as they're moving forward to production soon.

Now, we have yet again another update on the project as Deadline has confirmed that Game Night and Aladdin star Billy Magnussen is joining the cast of the Lilo and Stitch live-action remake. However, the details regarding the role that he is playing in the film are being kept under wraps.

The cast already includes Zach Galifianakis, who will reportedly voice Pleakley, and newcomer actress Maia Kealoha, who is set to play Lilo. Marcel the Shell with Shoes On director Dean Fleischer Camp is helming the film while Chris Kekaniokalani Bright wrote the latest draft of the screenplay.

The original film revolves around a Hawaiian girl named Lilo, who formed a friendship with an extraterrestrial creature named Stitch and eventually became her pet "dog" as well as part of their "ohana." It became a huge hit when it was released and eventually turned into a franchise with an animated series spinoff.

Magnussen is known for his roles in TV shows such as Made for Love, Maniac, Boardwalk Empire, Black Mirror, and American Crime Story. He also appeared in films such as Into the Woods, Bridge of Spies, Game Night, Velvet Buzzsaw, and No Time to Die.

This won't be his first rodeo in the Disney live-action remake realm as he had a small role as Prince Anders in Aladdin. While we don't have the details regarding the role that he'll play, signs are pointing out that his character is going to be significant in the story.

So far, the roles that Magnussen might be available to play in the film are either the voice actor/motion capture of Jumba, Captain Gantu, or a CIA agent who is investigating extraterrestrial activities in the vein of Cobra Bubbles. It is also likely that he will play a new character created solely for the remake.
