Disney's Bid With Fox in Trouble Thanks To Comcast

Marvel fans want to see the X-Men join the Avengers in the same Marvel Cinematic Universe and that could actually happen if Disney ends up owning 21st Century Fox; However, one company is standing in its way: Comcast, and according to a recent report, Comcast's offer just put Disney's deal with Fox in serious jeopardy.

As The Hollywood Reporter reports, Richard Greenfield of BTIG says that Rupert Murdoch, a Fox executive, is a businessman who wants to do the best business with the highest bidder, leaving him to consider Comcast's $60 billion bid. Disney already agreed to purchase Fox for $52.4 billion so the media giant could own all of Fox's film and TV studio IPs.

While many fans would rather see Disney acquire Fox so they could see the Avengers and X-Men characters in the same movie universe, Greenfield says that Murdoch just wants to deal with the company with the most money.

"Rupert, like his shareholders, are now fully aligned and simply want the best possible outcome, meaning the most dollars, whether that's cash or cash and stock," Greenfield explained while speaking with the digital news service Cheddar. "Rupert Murdoch is not set on selling to Disney. This is a real opening for Comcast to come in with a very significant premium bid to where Disney is now."

Disney could either walk away from the negotiations or bid a better offer than Comcast's $60 billion. With assets like X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool, it's unlikely that Disney will walk away from the deal, so let's wait and see what the media giant will do.
