Disney To Begin Work On Live-Action Pinocchio Movie Next Year

Disney might be busy working on the live-action adaptation of its animated classic Mulan, but that doesn't mean that the studio's forgotten all about the work that it has to do with its live-action Pinocchio project.

According to a report by LRM, the Mickey Mouse House is going to begin working on the production of its live-action Pinocchio movie early 2019. The film is going to be shot in England and Italy when production begins next year. Right now the project is in its early stages of development with most of the work focusing on the film's script.

Though Disney has yet to find the right actors and actresses for the movie, Pinocchio already has Paddington's Paul King as its director and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Chris Weitz as its scriptwriter. America Beauty and Skyfall director Sam Mendes was initially being tapped to direct the film, however, the filmmaker dropped out of the project last year for reasons that are still to be known.

Right now, there are very few details about the project. However, the film will stick closely to the 1940's Pinocchio, a movie which story followed the adventures of a puppet who desperately wanted to become a real boy.

Right now, Disney's live-action Pinocchio doesn't have a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
