Disney's been having a bit of trouble finding balance now that it's completed its acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the studio's various film and television assets. The Mickey Mouse House just had an earnings call this week, and it looks like Disney's been having it a little bit rough at the stock market.
Now, it looks like Disney's canceling quite a number of 20th Century Fox's film projects that have actually been in development for a long, a long time. The studio previously had 246 movies in development. Now, only half a dozen or so remain in development at Fox.
Redditors have listed the canceled films on the site, and it looks like Disney's axed a few films that some would have been interested in.
Assassin's Creed didn't do well among fans and critics, but Fox greenlit a sequel anyway, and now it looks like Assassin's Creed 2 can be found among the studio's canceled projects. The list also includes The Boogeyman, an adaptation of a short story by Stephen King. Chronicle, a genre-bending film that combined superhero elements with found footage horror was supposed to get a sequel but that was canceled too.
Fox's Flash Gordon movie was finally getting somewhere when the studio tapped Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, but it looks like the movie's now part of the films that Disney's put on the chopping board. The live-action adaptation of Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen didn't make the cut either. Nor did the Magic: The Gathering movie. Nor did Hitman 2. Or Megaman.
