Disney Reveals The Opening Dates For Its Star Wars Theme Park


It looks like Star Wars fans are finally going to be able to fly to Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away at Disney Resorts next year.

There was a lot of excitement when Disney World told announced that it was creating an immersive Star Wars hotel experience for everyone, and fans have been counting the days they need to wait til the Star Wars theme park would first open.

Releasing a teaser video to make the announcement, the Mickey Mouse House says the official name of its Star Wars Disney resort expansion is Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and is to first open at California's Disneyland Resort in the summer next year. After that, Disney will open Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at the Disney World Resort park in Florida during the fall of the same year.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has been a long time coming. Star Wars fans have been hoping for more Star Wars presence at Disney's theme parks ever since word broke out that the Mickey Mouse House had purchased Lucasfilm from George Lucas back in 2012.

Now after years of development, Disney says on its blog that the Star Wars theme park will bring guests to "the middle of the action ad they live their own Star Wars stories." It's definitely an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan.
