Disney Reveals Brand New High School Musical TV Series

It looks like Disney's popular teen movie series High School Musical is coming back to life with a brand new television series.

Variety has just reported unveiled new details about the High School Musical series, and it looks like we're not going to get the same kind of show that we got in the original films. Titled High School Musical: The Musical, the show will follow a group of East High School theater students trying to put on a High School Musical production for their upcoming winter project.

Unlike the flashy films, this new High School Musical film series will be shot like a documentary, following the lives of the students as they go through the ups and downs of producing a musical together.

While this might be a bit disconcerting to some seeing so many changes brought in the series, fans of the original films will take comfort in knowing that each episode of the High School Musical: The Musical is going to feature one original song from the first film and then one brand new tune.

However, the series won't feature any of the original cast members, taking on a new set of faces for the show, including Ricky, Nini, E.J., Ashlyn, Big Red, Gina, Vikram, and Miss Jenn.

The High School Musical: The Musical doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
