Disney Plus Censors Some Violent Scenes in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

It's been a year now since The Falcon and the Winter Soldier made its way on Disney+ and fans remember the series for its great action sequences that can be violent at times, especially at the end of episode four when John Walker used the Captain America shield to kill one of the Flag Smashers in public. However, apparently, it looks like some of the violent scenes in the series have now been censored.

In a report from The Direct, Reddit user u/MooninMoulin noticed that Disney+ edited two scenes in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to reduce the violence and make it more family-friendly. The first example is the death of Hydra scientist Wilfred Nagel. In the original cut, there was blood on Nagel's face and shirt. However, in the new edit, the blood is now gone, and instead, Nagel's eyes are now closed to indicate his demise.

Another example is in the scene where Bucky threw a pipe at a bounty hunter in the same episode. In the original version, the pipe stabbed into the shoulder and pinned her to a shipping container. In the new edit, the pipe bounces off her instead and it no longer pierces her flesh and the steel door behind her. Here is the side-by-side comparison video by YouTube user Thomas Nute:

So far, these are the only scenes that were noticed by fans that have received a significant edit. As of right now, neither Disney+ nor Marvel Studios have released a statement regarding their explanation of the changes a year after the episode aired. As far as everyone is concerned, some of the notable violent scenes still remain intact for now.

It's hard to tell why these scenes were edited, especially since other similar scenes also didn't receive the same edit. Fans have criticized it for being "unnecessary" and "too late." It still remains to be seen if Marvel and Disney+ will ever address the censorship that they did to the scenes and if they will also do it on the other shows.
