Disney Officially Unveils Rebrand of 20th Century Fox TV, 20th Television

Ever since the Fox/Disney Merger, Disney has been working to remove the ‘Fox' label from the different studios in order to distance themselves from the tainted brand. 20th Century Fox had become 20th Century Studios and Fox Searchlight has become Searchlight Pictures. Now Disney has unveiled their official rebrand of 20th Century Fox TV.

This is just one multiple other changes that Disney is making to its properties. ABC Studios has been renamed to ABC Signature and Fox 21 Television Studio is now being named Touchstone Television.

Disney Television Studios president Craig Hunegs had said in a statement about the rebranding (via EW):

"Our new studio names and logos mark a new day for ABC Signature, 20th Television, and Touchstone Television while honoring their rich histories and the creative power of The Walt Disney Company."

We don't really know why Disney didn't choose to keep the ‘Century' element of the name, seeing that ‘Century' is still pretty much part of the movie studio. Maybe they want to emphasize the difference to the television branch? If that was the case they should have just used different fanfare.

It's likely Disney has a lot of plans with the Fox properties that they own, but thanks to COVID-19, everything has been significantly slowed down. I guess rebranding is one of the main things they can push forward with at times like this. Hopefully, when the pandemic dies down, we get a more solid look at what Disney is planning to do with the Fox IP.
