Disney is Now Planning to Bring Lilo & Sticth to Live-Action

So far, Disney has been making live-action remakes from its own Renaissance era like Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming Mulan. Now news has come out that they're working on adapting a film from their experimental era to live-action

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is now working on bringing Lilo & Stitch to live-action. The movie will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich (who had worked on the live-action Aladdin), and they've also hired Mike Van Waes to make a script.

The original movie was directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, and since then, they've moved on to work with Dreamworks and their How to Train Your Dragon franchise. The last installment of HTTYD, The Hidden World, is set to come out early next year.

We don't have any idea if Lilo & Stitch is going to get a theatrical release yet, since it's possible that it will be one of the smaller films coming to Disney's streaming service; the first of which being the live-action Lady and the Tramp remake. I just think that if they want to make a film with a CG Stitch, it's best they don't hold back on the budget since it will end up like those direct-to-tv Scooby-Doo live-action films.

Though the movie didn't really make that much in the box office, Lilo & Stitch has grown to be one of the more beloved movies from the experimental Disney era. Not only is the story unique, but the humor is great and it has some genuine heartfelt moments; not to mention that topnotch Disney animation.

No release date has been set for the live-action Lilo & Stitch.
