Disney Exec Says There’s Going To Be Even More Deadpool In The Future

Disney might not have any concrete plans for the X-Men franchise just yet, but it looks like the Mickey Mouse House has a lot of hopes for Ryan Reynold's Deadpool.

While Marvel fans have been hoping to see the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all of 20th Century Fox's mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the Disney/Fox acquisition, the studio has said that it will take its time with the franchise.

Deadpool, on the other hand, seems to have won a soft spot over at Disney, and Disney executive Alan Horn tells fans at CinemaCon (via ComicBook.com) that the Merc with a Mouth will definitely make his way into the MCU.

"You'll be seeing more of Deadpool in the years ahead," said Horn.

There was a lot of concern that Disney might try to water down the Merc with a Mouth's brassy humor so that Deadpool can fit in with its family-friendly PG-rated sensibilities. However, last month, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger reassured fans that Disney would continue creating R-Rated Deadpool movies during a call with investors. Iger even promised that the Mickey Mouse House would continue creating other adult-oriented Marvel adventures after its acquisition of Fox.

"We will continue in that business," Iger said, adding that "There's certainly popularity" with these types of films.

Of course, Disney won't necessarily release these films under the Marvel or Disney banner, instead, placing the films in a new place like FX so as to not confuse the consumer.

Marvel's next big movie, Avengers: Endgame, premieres April 26, 2019.
